Week One: There has never been a 1-0 game in league history (there have been 2 2-0) but, with this mid-1990's like dip in scoring, it may just be a matter of time before we see that.now that that time finally came! After 288 games and four overtimes, Khris and Pat battled [sic?] to a 1-0, four overtime game that had the most playoff implications of any game played this week, Khris eliminating Pat and all but locking his fifth place position with the win. As also stated here, it will all be but a matter of time before there is a game with no shots, though TEG is adding this footnote to that previously made statement: for either team!
And, Week 2:As stated by TEG here last week, there has yet to be a 1-0 game. But with the scoring as it is, it would stand to reason that it's only a matter of time before we see that.
Democrats and Republicans Looking For Swing States on the Bubble--Hockey Table That Is With the season tallies being split right down the middle in terms of wins and losses in the battle between Red and Blue (24 apiece), Election Day around the corner and the Presidential campaigns heating up, TEG wouldn't be able to help himself in making a political joke if only he were something other than the non-Independent registered voter that he was. He'd also draw a parallel between the fact that Blue outscored Red 129-112 and outshot them 520-366 but still managed only an equal number of wins is comparable to how the electoral college can possibly work if only he was able to draw straight lines and wasn't four years removed from his college days.
Stats of the Week:
1. After losing eight straight games and being outshot for seven straight, Chief won a game with three goals and one SOG, thus prompting TEG's addition to his previous prediction of teams not recording a SOG.
2. Kevin twice won this week with four goals and four shots.
3. Kevin's record is now up to 90 games. You know which record by this point.
4. Dan outshot his last two opponents 36-11 and went 1-1. Kevin was outshot by his last two opponents 28-8 and went 2-0.
5. Todd finished his season by outshooting his last eleven opponents.
6. nait was 5-1 against expansion teams this season, but a paltry 2-4 against the other Original Four.
7. Todd is 22-1 all-time against expansion teams, including his current 14 game winning streak against them.
8. nait's league high 164 SOG (the fourth time he's led the league) marked the first time ever that no team reached the 200 SOG mark.
9. Previously only twice had a team not recorded 100 SOG. 5 of the 8 teams failed to do so this year.
10. Yet, teams who had 20 SOG in a game were 1-2 this season.
11. Kevin's 41.8% shooting percentage beat the previous best set by Colin in Season Five of 40.1%.
12. Todd's 22 goals allowed beat the previous best set by Colin in Season Five when he allowed only 29.
13. Four teams tied or beat Colin's old record of 29 GA.
14. Todd's 67 SOGA almost cut the old record of 111 set by nait in Season 3 in half.
15. Khris' four straight wins were an expansion season record for an expansion team.
16. Khris' three shutouts in one season tied the record previously set by both Kevin in Season One and Colin in Season Three.
17. Knate and Dan set team records for most wins in a season.
18. Todd tied a team record for most wins in a season.
19. Dan set a team record with his seven game winning streak.
20. Chief's .799 save percentage was a non-Kevin record, third best all-time and just .001 from joining the elite .800 club joined only by Kevin.
21. Though Knate (3.08) and Pat (3.00) were last in the league in GAA, they would have both lead the league with that number in Season Three.
22. Pat fell one short of the dubious record of being shutout four times in one season, a record held by both Colin, Season One and Churchie, Season Three.
23. Again being last in GF and GA, Churchie has only once failed to lose his hold on those positions, that being in Season Four when he outscored Chris 35-21.
Reader Animadversion In response to a reader's statement, "Okay, okay, I am a Todd fan. Look at this though, he has the best record in the league, the most shots, the most goals, the fewest shots against and the fewest goals allowed. I will have to consult with my friends over at stats inc. but I don’t think that has ever been done before." TEG must point out that while Todd did lead in Wins, GF, GA and least SOGA (though lost his SOG lead in the last week), Colin led the league in Wins, GF, SH%, GA, least SOG and best SV% in Season Five in what can no doubt be called the most dominating regular season performance the league has yet to see. Though, I'm sure "a Todd fan" would be more than willing to concede such dominance in order to avoid the playoff performance Colin put on that season.
Do As TEG Says, Not As He Does nait--TEG--breathed a noticeable sigh of relief as he took a 3-0 lead against Khris this week making TEG--nait himself--wonder if nait himself--TEG--is a reader of TEG (as opposed to just being the writer?) knowing the success rate of being up 2-0 is nearly 90% and 3 goals, while uncalculated by TEG--nait--is as far as he--either TEG or nait or perhaps both--can tell 100% this year. But alas nait, do as TEG says--you say--not as he does--you do: Khris came back for the most dramatic win of the season in winning 5-4 in overtime single-handedly leading TEG--nait--into losing his--my--concentration enough--even more--to prevent him--me--from keeping stats on the success of two goal leads this week.
(The purpose of this entire paragraph of course was to hopefully confuse the point enough that it will be forgotten that TEG--nait--simply put, choked up a three goal lead against the team he now must face in a one-game playoff with his Stanley Cup appearance streak on the freaking--fucking--line.)
All Predictions Wrong or Your Money Back, Part 2 It has never been TEG's policy to actually predict game outcomes, and will not choose to change this policy heading into the playoffs. Though, looking at the streaky seasons most of the playoff teams have had--Kevin Won 5, Lost 3, then finished with a two game winning streak; Dan began 1-3, went on a career best seven game winning streak before losing to Kevin in the closer; nait beat Todd in the opener, Lost 2, eventually won 6 of 7 before losing two in a row to end the season; and Khris began 2-1, then Lost 5 before winning his last four games; while Todd has won 10 of his last 11 with an eight game winning streak in the middle--it appears to be a matter of picking between guessing which one will get hot at the right time...or the one who has been hot all season.
Next Week: F--- (Whoever Won Not Named nait) and Bring On Lucky Seven!

Todd's gotta be the favourite here due to his consistent play. But who knows, he could turn out to be one of those flimsy President's Trophy teams.
Nait apparently is too worried about his playoff streak and has just set himself up for an early exit.
Khris is an unknown but can score some timely goals.
Right now I like Kevin and Dano. The Town Drunk is too loose to get rattled but his hyperactive play might rattle a weak mind.
Kev, well, he'll let some clunkers in just like Miller but I got a feeling his quiet intensity will be very focused come Thursday.
To all of you in the playoffs I'd like to tip my middle finger to you.
Nice work on the end of season stats but I guess I'll have to show up to find out the playoff matchups.
Flimsy President's Trophy winners...
I like the sound of that.
Uhhh, I'm gonna have to retract my "quiet intensity" assessment of Kevin. He was an instrumental part in launching two chairs at me while sitting in the side balcony of Nietzsche's.
However, along with smoking cigs, things of this nature are to be expected at a JN show. Especially on Halloween.
Be warned, he's gonna f___kin' destroy that table tonight!
Hey Goldie? You like the sound of that? Good. You can start by sweeping the floor.
yeah, get to sweeping that floor.
